Wesley Words!
What toothpaste do you use and why?
Odd question, isn’t it? I asked this question at a recent Wesley Thursday Lunch @ UW. One student asked, “now, what is the spiritual implication of this question?”
Glad you asked! Pastor Jeff invited all in worship on January 15 to discuss this very question with their neighbor. Such a simple question encouraged much conversation. Maybe not extremely meaningful, in the scheme of things. But conversation flowed and connections were made.
In John 1:35-51, someone points out Jesus, and another follows. Conversations about this Rabbi and Messiah caused people to change directions and follow Jesus. Sometimes the conversations can begin very simply, but end in such a way that new life is discovered.
We may feel uncomfortable “sharing Jesus with someone” because, frankly, we don’t want to cram our faith into someone else’s face. However, maybe sharing our faith with someone else – some call this evangelism – can begin as simply as sharing our favorite toothpaste, movie, or experience, with someone else.
Grace & peace,
Pastor Laura
